One in three first-time buyers (34%) believe their first property will be a semi-detached – with a quarter predicting they will end up in a flat, while 21% reckon it will be a terraced home. Two-thirds of house hunters (67%) estimate their first home will be quite small – but they are willing to compromise on the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, just to get on the property ladder.
