Shoppers to spend $1.25b on Boxing Day alone

Shoppers are expected to splurge $1.25 billion at the Boxing Day sales. The Australian Retailers Association expects the first week of the sales will net $3.55b, while spending to January 15 could reach as high as $23.9b. It's still the biggest shopping event of the year, despite the growth in popularity in recent years of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday events held in November.
