No ‘dinkum code of conduct’ for farmers as supermarkets accused of ‘tokenistic’…

Former ACCC chairman Allan Fels says farmers are "doing it tough” as their code of conduct with supermarkets is “just tokenistic”. Mr Fels joined Sky News Australia to discuss the impending review into supermarket prices, headed by Bob Hawke’s former economic advisor Craig Emerson. “They haven’t got a decent protection – a code of conduct is a small step in the right direction,” he said. “And it is also good the government and Craig Emerson doing the review are considering making it compulsory. “In the past, it was just tokenistic with not a dinkum code of conduct because it depended on the big retailers agreeing to everything.”
